What is LEED and why should I know about it?
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Available for virtually all building project types, from new construction to interior fit-outs and operation & maintenance, LEED provides a framework that project teams can apply to create healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green buildings. LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement.
Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), there is a complete portfolio of LEED rating systems. The most commonly used LEED rating system is BD+C Building Design and Construction
This rating system applies to buildings that are being newly constructed or going through a major renovation; includes New Construction, Core & Shell, Schools, Retail, Hospitality, Data Centers, Warehouses & Distribution Centers, and Healthcare. Currently the LEED rating system is in transition form LEED version 3 (2009) to LEED version 4. To learn more about LEED v4 please visit this website link… https://new.usgbc.org/leed-v4
There has been a significant change in the Material Resource section in LEED v4, most of the responsibility lies in the hands of the door and plywood manufacturers in regards to 3rd party certifications. This chart shows the complexity form LEED 2009 to LEED v4.
For questions and clarification on LEED v4 credits please contact Mike Miller at firstname.lastname@example.org
